MCP-1 secretion in SH-SY5Y cells. (A) MCP-1 concentrations were measured in conditioned medium from differentiated
SH-SY5Y cells and normalized to the protein content of the cell lysis solution and
reported here as the average ± SEM of five independent assays. Cells expressing H63D
HFE released 71% more MCP-1 than cells expressing Wt HFE, while cells expressing C282Y
HFE released 42% less MCP-1 than Wt-expressing cells. C282Y cells released significantly
less MCP-1 than all other cell lines. (B) Similar results were obtained using undifferentiated
cells. **, and *** represent p < 0.01, and p < 0.001, respectively, compared to Wt
HFE cells.
